Advanced training modules have been developed to allow senior trainees to obtain a deeper understanding of sub specialist areas of anaesthesia. Advanced Training involves doing a 6 to 12 month block in a subspeciality, with a view to obtaining a consultant post with a significant sessional commitment to that sub-speciality.
The CCT training manual sets out indicative programmes for the following subspecialities:
- cardiac/thoracic »
- intensive care medicine
- neuroanaesthesia »
- obstetrics »
- paediatrics »
- pain management »
However, it may be possible for trainees to do advanced training in other areas eg max/fax/ENT/Airway.
