All consultants act as Clinical Supervisors, supporting and assessing trainees on a day to day basis in the workplace.
Each trainee will also be allocated an Educational Supervisor who has more knowledge of the anaesthetic curriculum. The Educational Supervisor will monitor the progress of their trainee throughout their attachment providing feedback at regular appraisal meetings.
Each hospital will also have a College Tutor who supports the Educational Supervisors and looks after the training needs of anaesthetic trainees as a group as well as providing a link with the Royal College of Anaesthetists.
The Welsh School of Anaesthesia lead for Educational Supervisors in currently Dr Neil Agnew, College Tutor in Wrexham, who can be contacted on neil.agnew@wales.nhs.uk for advice.
