Society of Anaesthetists of Wales (SAW)

Details

The Society of Anaesthetists of Wales was formed in 1948, making us one of the longest standing medical societies in the UK. We are the society for education and networking for all anaesthetists in Wales and if you are lucky enough to work in Wales and you're an Anaesthetist, whether in-training, SAS or Consultant you are automatically a member.

We also encourage allied professionals, including Operating Department Practitioners, Anaesthetic Nurses and Anaesthesia Associates to our meetings. It's great to learn as a team. Please join us if you are a medical student, or perhaps a doctor in-training and thinking about a career in Anaesthesia. Our meetings are open, friendly and a great way to get to know our community. You will also find our pricing very competitive compared to other meetings. We support research, education and governance through our abstract competitions, twice a year we have the Michael Rosen Abstract competition, special commendations for medical student abstracts and, new for 2022, we are proud to team up with the Welsh Anaesthetic Green Network (WAGN) and present the Green Dragon Award for the best sustainable healthcare abstract. We also support projects through our SAW Bursary programme.

Join us for our Autumn Scientific Meetings (usually second week of October, over two days and joint with another society), and for our Spring Scientific Meetings held during the second week of March.
