Please contact Paulo Antoniazzi - Paulo.Antoniazzi@wales.nhs.uk or Dan Helme - Daniel.Helme2@wales.nhs.uk for information and to book on.

Educational Supervisor Appraisal Meetings

All trainees have an Educational Supervisor to support and oversee their training. Both trainer and trainee work closely and can seek advice from the departmental College tutor and also the School of Anaesthesia. It is imperative that all trainees have regular Educational Supervisor appraisal meetings. These must be uploaded to the LLP so that regular engagement can be demonstrated.

ARCP 2026 Dates & Checklists

All ARCP dates and revised ARCP checklists for 2026 have been published on the ARCP webpage and supercede all previous ARCP checklists - see ARCPs

Introduction of a submission deadline for the ESSR and relevant ARCP evidence has proved very successful. We will continue to share submission dates only with trainees so that panel members have adequate time to review evidence. The actual panel review dates are approximately one week after this submission date for anaesthesia and two weeks after the submission date for FICM ARCPs and dual anaesthesia/FICM trainees.

Submission dates for 2026 ARCPs are:

Winter ARCPs
CT1-3 : January 19th (submission January 7th)
ST 4-5 : January 19th/23rd (submission January 7th)
ST 6-7 : January 14th (submission January 7th)

FICM (single/dual) - January 14th (submission January 1st 2026 both portfolios)

Summer ARCPs
CT1 : July 6th (submission June 29th)
CT2/ACCS CT3 : June 25th (submission June 15th)
CT3/ACCS CT4 : June 22nd (submission June 15th)
ST4/5 : July 7th (submission June 29th)
ST6/7 : June 26th (submission June 15th)

Dual anaesthesia/FICM : July 3rd (submission June 19th)**
FICM (single/non anaes) : June 23rd (submission June 9th)

All dual anaes/ICM trainees of any grade will now have both portfolios reviewed at ARCPs by a joint anaes/ICM panel on one date.

All LLP evidence, including the ESSR, must be present to view by the advertised submission date - therefore please co-ordinate the date for ESSR completion with your trainee as early as possible. Trainees who do not submit their evidence by the submission deadline are likely to receive an Outcome 5, followed by an Outcome 2.

All ARCPs will be held in absence.

In the event of an unsatisfactory outcome, a virtual meeting will be arranged within the next 10 day period with the Head of School and Training Programme Director. These dates are to be confirmed.
