We recognise that the availability of pain medicine training has been significantly impacted by COVID. A new innovative and interactive pain medicine training programme has been released for Intermediate Trainees, followed exceptional developmental work by Dr Kate Wainwright, Dr Richard Wassall and Dr Sonia Pierce. Two scenarios are currently available to work through via Welsh Pain Medicine either with your Faculty Tutor for Pain Medicine or independently. A certificate can be downloaded once the scenario is completed, to then upload to your LLP. Your feedback on the scenarios is also welcome.

After 7 years as a Training Programme Director for Anaesthesia, initially as Core TPD and for the last 4 years as ST TPD, Dr Caroline Evans will hand over the reins of ST TPD to Dr Libby Duff from September 1st. Caroline has always demonstrated exceptional ability and commitment, and the School and every trainee in Wales should be hugely grateful for everything she has done to support and drive forward their training - always fair, always kind, always available - the time and thought she has given every trainee and their circumstances has been quite incredible. We are all delighted that she will continue in her role as Deputy Head of School, supporting the transition to the new 2021 curriculum and…

Message from the Head of Specialty School for Anaesthesia & ICM As August is now upon us and we mark the end of a training year for many trainees, I would like to express my sincere thanks to everyone who has done their utmost to deliver the best possible patient care during the last few months of the COVID-19 pandemic, and at the same time deliver high quality training in anaesthesia and ICM in Wales. It was clear from the Summer ARCPs, that training opportunities may have been different, however they were very much present and trainees have benefitted from the variety of opportunities on offer, particularly within the non-clinical domains of their training. Thank you all for taking the time to prepare…

The old e-portfolio system will be shut down and deleted in August 2019. It is imperative that anyone who has a training record on this system downloads it to several safe places. Many people will have to move across a part of their training record to the new Lifelong Learning Platform. Please review this presentation on how to transfer information and how to set up an ESSR for ARCPs. Further advice can be found on the Royal College of Anaesthetists Website in the form of webinars. If you have any difficulties please try your local LLP lead, the college website or email Simon.email@example.com for assistance.
