Guidance for Evidencing Paediatric Key Capabilities in 2021 Curriculum

The APAGBI have just published valuable new guidance to support the curriculum requirements for all Stages of training in paediatric anaesthesia. The guidance has been produced in conjunction with the RCoA/APA with the support of Dr Mari Roberts and Dr Gethin Pugh who are both Wales anaesthetists. It consists of suggested reading, a variety of podcasts and tutorials and an excellent paediatric anaesthesia for beginner’s guide. Patient Safety in Perioperative Practice

Anaesthetists in Training are invited to submit an abstract for e-presentation at the virtual Patient Safety in Perioperative Practice meeting. Four abstracts will be selected by a panel to present their poster orally and have the opportunity to win a prize. A trainee must be the lead author. Posters should fall under the theme of 'Patient Safety and / or Quality Improvement'. The closing date for entries is midnight on Monday 13 January 2025. A panel of RCoA judges will assess all submissions shortly after the closing date. Authors will be notified week commencing 3 February 2025 if they have been invited to display their poster at the Patient Safety in Perioperative Practice conference. Guidance on additional work undertaken whilst working in a postgraduate training programme

COPMED have published guidance detailing the considerations for trainees wishing to undertake additional work/locums whilst in a postgraduate training programme. The guidance refers to both full time and LTFT trainees and is also a useful reference for trainers in educational supervisor roles and in managing rota queries. Educational supervisors should be encouraged to discuss with the trainee any additional activity as part of their ongoing review of training progression and curriculum requirements prior to ARCP review.
